Creative Expeditions
I know what it’s like to be on the back foot. The reason I’m multi skilled is because I was skill-less from the beginning. I’m fascinated by all forms of creative practice from sustainable materials, experimental design to hokey video direction. For me, academia was a waste of time, if I’d have invested all that time, energy and money into self confidence building and personal development where would I or you be now? But it’s never too late.
The truth is we all have this ability to circumnavigate traditional systemic traps like academia and do things our way. Qualifications help us fall into this system, and if you’re a molecular scientist, or biologist then academia is probably for you. However, statistically this is a system that is overcharging, overpromising and undervaluing all the effort and finances it takes to get employed. What I’ve learned is that you already have it inside of you, bundles of creativity, stacks of ideas and the ability to change the world around you. What stops you is the same system, it needs you to buy into it otherwise it would die.
I’ve included a brief CV at the end of the following portfolio to demonstrate how flat my forehead has become from butting the same wall. I’m a very skilled creative but not because of qualifications, because of practice and a wonderful growth mindset. I sincerely believe anything I can do you can do better.
